Universal Media Server is an open-source tool that enables media streaming to different devices such as PCs, mobile phones, consoles, and audio receivers. It supports various output devices, automatically detects connected devices, and initializes the transfer process without requiring much user interaction. Upon initial launch, the tool prompts users to go through a quick configuration wizard, and it is important to instruct it to scan shared folders at each launch to ensure an updated media library. The main window displays details about the detected media renderers, memory usage, current and maximum bitrate, and shared folders and files can be easily managed within the dedicated tab. Additionally, subtitles can be automatically disabled for streamed videos.
